Chunkzz Malayalam Movie
While watching "Chunkzz", Omar Lulu gives the impression that he is yet to come in terms with the concept of a campus film. As a filmmaker, he had a decent debut in "Happy Wedding." But in "Chunkzz," Omar tries to impress the teens with an enticing title and dual meaning dialogues to relate a story in the backdrop of a campus (though the major events occur outside the campus).
Unlike before, campus-related subjects are got tangled in engineering colleges. This film also has the premise of an engineering college, where Romario (Balu Varghese) and his friends (Dharmajan Bolgatty, Visakh and Ganapathy) study Mechanical engineering. With the arrival of Riya (Honey Rose), they are elated as she is the sole female student in their department. Riya creates an impact on them and the campus as well. As their friendship flourishes, Rosario tries to win her love. Then enters Sherin (Mereena Michel) from Bengaluru in search of Riya.
There are conscious efforts from writers Sanoop Thaikudam, Joseph Vijeesh and Aneesh Hameed to fill the plot with twists. Meanwhile, certain dialogues, including that of teachers are surprisingly distasteful and could have been avoided.
As the film aims to satisfy the sensibilities of youngsters, it vastly exploits the medium to show off the unbridled celebration of youth. The cast in this film occupy in a familiar terrain, so performance-wise, it's just a cakewalk for them. However, Alby's camera opens to the colourful arena providing excellent visuals.
This film is a package of excessive zeal, boisterous gestures and distasteful content. All of them meet the saturation point to give us enough reason to desist from it.
